Not all of your travel plans work out the way you want them to. Infact, not all of our general life plans work out the way you want them to.
However, this does not have to be a bad thing.
I am a strong believer in everything happens for a reason and even everything that doesn’t happen is also for a reason.
If you have been following my social media, particularly my instagram account, you would know that I just returned from a two month trip of a lifetime through Europe but what you didn’t know is that I had originally planned to move to Canada to work for a couple of years immediately after Europe.
Obviously I am not currently living in Canada due to many reasons that got in the way no matter how hard I tried to get around them. Which was actually quite upsetting especially after talking it up so much to myself, my family and my friends for so long. In some ways it felt that by changing my plans I was disappointing not only myself, but also my family and friends.
If you really look into it though I assure you that at some point you had a family member or friend talk all about their plans which never lived past a plan but I am sure that if you cared about them enough you would not judge them or treat them any different for it and if they cared about you enough the same would apply.
What I am trying to say is that we need to learn when something isn’t right, whether it be for now or forever and how to make the right decision for ourselves no matter how hard that can be sometimes.
Particularly as travelers, so many people like to question our goals and dreams but out of all of these people the only opinion that truly matters is your own.
As well as making sure your decisions are not made due to the pressure of others.
Looking back now, I am able to understand that the decision to postpone my Canadian adventure was in fact the right thing.
I had no way in knowing that my Europe trip would change me the way that it did or that I am not the biggest fan of solo travel and we as travelers and as people have no way in knowing how our life will be, how we will grow and what experiences will shape who we become.
After everything I am still going on my Canadian adventure this year. It may not be for 2 years yet but for me now 2 months is perfect! I will see some friends and then come home to my family and plan my next chapter.
As I said before, not all of our dreams work out for us but you would be surprised once you notice how many of these goals and dreams make their way back into our lives in a way that is right for us.
(Canadian adventure- COMING SOON!)
